The difference between lighting and the right kind of lighting

It’s always a little tricky to refer to your own product or proposition as a ‘conditio sine qua non’ for the success of an operation or project. However, there is a difference between bragging and sharing a story about an exciting and exceptional collaboration between business partners in which you had the honor of participating and contributing. And that’s exactly what we would like to do. But let’s take one step back, for some context.

Reality is, that lighting is not one of the first things that come to mind when discussing the layout or construction of – let’s say – a factory or warehouse. Lighting is, well…. it’s usually just there isn’t it? This may be the case, but this assumption misses an important point: there is lighting and there is the right kind of lighting. This may sound obvious, but the difference really is crucial.

It is obviously hard to find a factory or warehouse anywhere in the world that is not equipped with light devices of some sort. But that doesn’t mean that lighting is part of a company’s strategy. In fact, most of the times it is not. And that is, without a doubt, a missed opportunity.

As said, we would like to point out an interesting case that illustrates this. A wonderful collaboration between Nedap and our partner Lednovate that resulted in excellent, safe, energy-efficient and wirelessly dimmable lighting at a challenging construction site in the Netherlands. In many ways, this was an exceptional case, because our products are usually implemented in factories, assembly halls and warehouses and this story revolves around the renovation of an old train station.

However, it nicely illustrates the benefits of connected lighting: an increase of safety and flexibility, cost reduction and a decrease of the carbon footprint. In addition, it shows our preference to work with a-class partners. On any project.

Have a nice read!
